In 1968, after receiving Amrit alongside her husband, Swaran Singh Malhi, Mata Joginder Kaur Ji felt a deep desire to meet fellow Gursikhs. This search led them to the Akhand Kirtani Jatha, where they were deeply moved by the sangat's devotion to Gurbani and their unwavering commitment to the three pillars of Sikhi — earning an honest living, serving others selflessly, and cultivating spiritual awareness through Naam Simran.
It was during this time that they first heard of a revered Gursikh named Bau Mal Singh Ji from Tarn Taran — a former military man, a lifelong companion of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji of Narangwal, and after Bhai Sahib's passing, his successor as head of the AKJ.
A Spiritual Encounter
In 1968, Mata Joginder Kaur Ji and Papaji travelled to visit Bau Mal Singh Ji at his home in Tarn Taran. Upon their arrival, they were astonished when Bau Ji approached her with profound bairaag, his eyes filled with tears — despite this being their very first meeting, and she being a complete stranger to him.
"Where have you been? I have been waiting for you for many years."
